In the course of Architecture, I have always been interested in its subset of Furniture Design.
Our furniture takes up the majority of space and helps our spaces feel lived in, welcoming and complete.
To explore this stream , I completed the Bamboo Furniture Course at Bamboo Canter, Auroville.
I also had the opportunity to work with Vincent Roy, Pondicherry, to get an overall scenario of the furniture design industry at process and the various processes involved in the same.
In the course of my internship I got to work on small micro projects that gave me an opportunity to explore this stream to a some extent.
INTERNSHIP AT 'WOOD N DESIGN'
Vincent Roy - Furniture Artist
This chair has been designed to gel well with the design of the study table
The stool has been designed to gel well with the design of the study table
The design has been in lines with the former design so that they gel well in the collection of furniture for an office - ( conical legs ) being the similarity.
BAMBOO FURNITURE DESIGN COURSE
In this design programme, the theorotical part of Bamboo that is its background, history , types etc. have been introduced.
Also the joineries in this material were taught with a hands on process.
In the course we completed a chair as the end product , thus exploring what had been taught to us and the nlearnt as well.
The chair alongside was designed mostly using the fishmouth joint.Basic Understandings of which bamboo to use where, of which diameter were understood.
The Chair alongside was made in three full days.
MICRO PROJECTS

The staircase alongside were designed and constructed to enhance the infrastructure for the volunteers living onsite.
They have been constructed from waste wooden Planks or wooden logs.
