Granite Rejects have been used to complete the 600mm high Plinth. Lime Mortar with Turmeric is used. Glass Bottles at the bottommost layer ensure a safe barrier from the scorpions.
Reject Granite pieces are used to make the pattern. The masonry would be wih Lime mortar. The masonry is sloped outwards to avoid invasion of water.
Ensuring the bond formation is important. The Flemish Bond is necessary as well for the aesthetic on the exterior.
Palm leaf stems are reused to make wall panels for the onsite Dormittory. They are free, keep the insects away and are water repellant as well!!!
This is a picture of my own experiment Of Super Adobe as a building material. I have used Rammed Earth and gunny bags to be used as the building blocks. Above is a picture of an opening to be designed for a Super Adobe house.
DEEP DIVES OF
DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION
I wanted to start my architectural journey by being a mason on site.
I chose to work at Sacred Groves, Auroville that gave me an opportunity to be a simple learner on field and to learn construction the earthy way.
In my internship of six months I was part of construction of a small structures, research on materials and article writing for the blog.
